Ventnor Winter Gardens

The current 1937 Winter Gardens art-deco building was built by Ventnor District Council to the design of Mr. A. D. Clare, A.R.I.B.A. The estimated cost was £12,560, including £10,250 for the structure itself[1]. It was built on the site of Ventnor Parsonage which had been demolished in 1935. The building stands above the esplanade with fine views out to the English Channel.

The ground floor was used as a 664 seat theatre and concert hall during the summer season, during the winter it was sometimes used as a ballroom. Originally there was a sun-terrace on the roof, which has subsequently been built over.

The main amenities closed in 2011, today (2019), just a bar and cafe are open.
