Seaview Telephone System

The National Telephone Co. Ltd leased Arctic Cottage (2010 Neptune) on Seaview Esplanade as a Telephone Call Office, and later established it as the first Telephone Exchange in Seaview.
In the 1911 street directory Mrs. Annie Peach is listed as the operator.
An Automatic exchange was later built at the north-eastern side of Fairy Road - shown on a 1939 map.
The exchange closed during the early 1980s, when services were transferred to the exchange in Ryde.
Today (2020) the building has been decommissioned and in private ownership.
