Little Jane, (more fully, Jane Squibb), lived with her parents in a cottage on track, which is now (2019), the Public Bridleway off The Mall, Brading.

She is remembered for being commemorated in 'The Annals of the Poor' by the Rev. Leigh Richmond, curate of Brading church between 1797 to 1805.

Jane used to visit his Sunday School classes at St Mary's church, Brading.

She died of tuberculosis, aged 15, on 30 January 1799 and is buried in St Mary's churchyard.

The cottage is grade 2 listed.
