The 1911 and 1927 Kelly's street directories for Hampshire and Isle of Wight record F Hartridge & Sons at Weston Road, Cowes as Mineral Water Manufacturers.

The 1901 census has Francis Hartridge living in Mill Hill Road Cowes, born in Sittingbourne, Kent and described as a Mineral Water Manufacturer and Maltster.

The 1911 census has John Hartridge living in Granville Road, Cowes, born in Sussex (Lewis) and described as a Mineral Water Manufacturer. The 1939 Register shows John still as a Mineral Water Manufacturer with the address Elm Cottage, Weston Road, Cowes, with the Mineral Water factory next door.

The firm closed under the war-time zoning scheme; John Hartridge then joined the staff of Gould, Hibberd and Randall of Newport - he retired in 1952 and died 1965[1].

The 1891 and 1911 census shows Francis with his family at Hambleton Hampshire; John, his son, appears to have managed the Cowes branch of the family business from 1910.

In the 1911 census, Francis describes himself as 'a poor unfortunate Brewer'.
