Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve

From Wightpedia

Hampshire & IW Wildlife Trust's Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve largely consist of water meadows adjacent to the eastern river Yar, Isle of Wight and the old Sandown to Newport railway track (now a cycle track).

There are also hay meadows and woodland and a public bird hide overlooking the water meadows. From the hide, red squirrels can often be seen feeding.

Parking is limited to 'on the road parking' near to the cycle track in the hamlet of Alverstone; however the reserve can be easily reach by walking the cycle track from Sandown or Newchurch.
