Deadmans Lane, Newport

Deadmans Lane - An old name for Trafalgar Road, Newport/Carisbrooke.

The story goes that in 1377 a party of French invaders were ambushed in this area and all were killed, thus 'Deadmans Lane'. The name was changed by the Corporation's Paving Committee in 1861.
