Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve
Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve largely consist of water meadows adjacent to the eastern river Yar and the old Sandown to Newport railway track (now a cycle track). There are also hay meadows and woodland.
There is a public bird hide overlooking the water meadows and red squirrels can often be seen feeding from the hide.
Parking is limited to 'on the road parking' near to the cycle track in the hamlet of Alverstone; however the reserve can be easily reach by walking the cycle track from Sandown or Newchurch.
